Meeting the "Cosmetician" - March 26, 2005

Ever since I can remember wearing makeup, it has always been wearing what I thought was best, rather than getting an opinion from someone who 'knows" best. Up until now I had been using a Covergirl #710 concealer stick as a base, and Covergirl medium beige liquid makeup finished with Covergirl classic beige pressed powder. I got used to it and rather than experiment stuck with it.

During my shopping trip with Chantal on Saturday, March 26, 2005, that all changed! Chantal has been going to her favorite "Cosmetician" at Shoppers Drug Mart for a while now and has told me how helpful she is. So during our outing we stopped in at the store to do a little makeup shopping. Chantal's favorite "Cosmetician" met us right away all smiles and ready to be helpful. Chantal introduced me to her and we chatted a bit about what was new and stuff then just started browsing the isles.

Chantal mentioned to the Cosmetician that I was interested in knowing more about the foundation she had recommended to Chantal a while ago called "Cover FX". The Cosmetician asked what I was using already and right away pointed out the advantage of purchasing "Cover FX". Not only would it be a better product, but in the long run, would be much more cost effective. Since I would only need the one product for the foundation not the cover stick and liquid makeup which I had been using! She explained that CoverFX was developed to cover may types of skin imperfections and is perfect for "US" girls.

I hopped on the stool and waited patiently while the Cosmetician got her samples together. Imagine, me in my mini skirt and high heeled boots, sitting there in a busy store, having the Cosmetician helping me with makeup! That was so cool!

The Cosmetician tried a few colors until she found one she felt was best. Looking in the mirror I made a comment and then thought...."No, I should let the expert make the decision." After all, that was what I was sitting in the chair for! After a few tries, and checking the colors near the window in daylight, she decided that I was a C40, whatever that means. I was like a kid in the candy store and couldn't wait to buy the product so I could try it out!

Of course I had to purchase the matching translucent loose setting powder to go with it. The Cosmetician pointed out that because the powder was translucent it could be used with any color of foundation! Of course we talked about colors changing with tanning in the summer so I may need to do this again at a later time. Great! Another Shopping Trip!

Following our visit at the Shoppers Drug Mart, Chantal and I went for a walk through the Kildonan Place Shopping Center which was another first for me. In all the times I've been out I haven't visited the mall since it was close to where I live and I guess I was just doing that to avoid running into people I know. Thinking about how many times I've gone there in drab, and that I rarely run into people I know, I felt it was going to be an OK experience. Which it was of course. Chantal purchased hose from the Zellers store and I simply enjoyed walking through the mall in my mini skirt and heels! Then it was on to our next adventure..Visiting the Manitoba Museum.
