Visiting the "Manitoba Museum" with Chantal - March 26, 2005
Ever since I was in high school one of my all time dreams was to visit the Manitoba Museum wearing a skirt and heels. It was during a visit to the museum back then that I saw a girl dressed all pretty, wearing high heeled boots and wished I was her! After my visit to the Kildonan Place Shopping Centre, where I had met with the Shoppers Drug Mart cosmetician, Chantal suggested we go to the museum and I jumped at the chance to fulfill that dream!
We parked near the museum and enjoyed walking down the Main Street sidewalk in the bright sunshine, feeling the cool spring air up our skirts! Being such a nice Saturday afternoon the Museum was quite busy, with lots of families, kids and couples visiting the galleries. Anxious to realize a dream I have had for so many years, I bought our tickets and we made our way into the gallery. Standing inside at the first exhibit, a heard of bison, I just couldn't believe we were actually there!
We walked slowly through the galleries, stopping to read the information posted and look at the various displays. With us in our mini skirts and heels and among so many people who never seemed to give us a second look. I had been to the museum many times before as "him", yet there was so many new exhibits to see that it was like I had never been there.

Chantal in the Manitoba MuseumOf the entire museum the most exiting for us was visiting the Nonsuch exhibit and the Urban Gallery exhibit. Built in 1970, the Nonsuch is a replica of a 1668 sailing vessel. The replica actually sailed for 14000 kilometers before it was placed in the museum. So you can see, it was quite a thrill for us to walk on board the vessel and stroll the dock area in our mini skirts and heels!

The second gallery we enjoyed the most was strolling through the urban gallery which represents life in Winnipeg in the 1920's. That was so cool. With so many other visitors to the museum walking about, and us among them. Replicas of building, businesses such as a pharmacy, photo studio, cafe', bank, theater, dressmaker, hotel, dentist, jeweler, fortune teller and more!

The exit from the urban gallery took us right back to the entrance where we started! And right there was a guest book which we both just HAD to sign! Leaving a record of our visit to the museum for others to see!
Thanks for reading my story,
