Meeting the Girls of Masquerade - "Party Night"....

On Saturday, July 28, 2001, I had the chance to meet some of the other girls of Masquerade at a house party. Shandi was kind enough to contact the hostess, Edwina, and see if it would be alright for me to come to the party with her, since no one had met me yet. I was so happy to learn that I was welcome to join them:-) It was a great feeling to be accepted like that.

Now that I had some place to go, I still had trouble deciding what to wear! (Typical girl though). After spending a fun Friday trying on different outfits, I dicided on wearing my blue blouse, my black mini skirt, black hose and pumps. That has always been a favorite outfit of mine, so I figured it would be best!.

After having such a wonderful time out with Shandi and Janine on Thursday evening, I just couldn't miss the party on Saturday! I do admit, a part of me is feeling a little guilty about telling a white lie just to get the time to go, yet, I believe it was too important for me to miss. It was almost like a military excersise though, getting my things out of the house during the day, but I managed to pull it off!

A few of the girls were having a pot luck supper earlier, but due to work commitments, Shandi and Janine couldn't make it until about 9:30 pm. That was Ok with me. By 6:30 pm, I was out of the house and as I have done many times before, I parked in a mall lot and got changed in my van. (I have very dark windows, so it is easy to do without being seen). By about 8:30pm, I was changed and very pleased with my makeup. So I moved to the driver's seat and sat in the lot doing my nails:-) It felt so cool sitting there in the parking lot doing "girl stuff":-)

At around 9pm, Shandi called to say they had to go pick up a GG friend of Janine's and were running late. We agreed to meet in the area of Edwina's apartment building at around 10pm!! Again, she would call when they were near the building. I took this opportunity to go for a drive downtown and just be a girl!! When we spoke on Friday, Edwina told me that due to construction near her building, we would have to park a block away. I told her it was not a problem, just knowing I've done that before with no destination, so this would be more exciting:-) You can imagine the thrill that was building up inside me, just knowing I HAD some place to walk to!

I got to the building first, and a short while later, Shandi arrived with her SO, Janine and Janine's GG friend. It was such a thrill to meet them on the sidewalk, do the introduction thing, then all walk together to the apartment:-)

I honestly have to tell you, I was not nervous at all and completely comfortable walking the block wearing my mini skirt and high heels!! It felt so natural too:-) And this was one block from where our office used to be too! Then arriving at Edwina's suite, greeting her and the other girls at the door. It is really hard to explain. I thought I would be afraid to death to walk into a room full of strangers like that. But it felt so comfortable:-) The only thing I was concerned about was remembering names!

It was such a trilling experience, being introduced to everyone, and hearing my name "Sabrina" being said over and over!! I met the some of the girls from Masquerade who were at the party. There was our hostess Edwina, Vanessa, Ardra, Natalie, and Angela! There were a few others present, but you'll have to fogive me, I've had a blond moment and forgot their names! After a few minutes in the room, which was not airconditioned, I suddenly became quite concerned about my makeup with the heat, but so were the other girls. Natalie kept fanning herself with a paper plate, and Edwina kept moving a fan around the room.

After pouring a drink ("Diet Pepsi", this girl doesn't drink and drive), we sat in the living room and out came the photo albums. A few years worth of pictures of their outings which I must say I wished I'd been at. (Just how could such a wonderful group be kept a secret??) Many of the girls looked just terrific!! Many are very passable too. And for the girls present who were in the pictures, for them it was like re-living the moments in time:-)

Another girl, Andrea, and her SO arrived later.Andrea had done a wonderful makeup job and was wearing a very skin tight red mini-dress (I want it, NOW). She looked stunning in black hose and red stilletoes.

After a short while of great conversation, someone got out a camera and the next thing you know, flashes are going off all over the room and in every direction! I wound up being in front of the camera for some of the pictures.:-)

It was a pleasure to speak with Shandi's SO too, and hear her point of view on what we do. She is a terrific person and very easy to talk with. And it was so much fun talking "girl talk" with a real girl!!!

In all my years of dressing alone, I never thought it would be as easy as it was to meet total strangers for the first time face to face. But then again, now that I think about it, there is no other way to become friends with meeting that way now is there!! It was so much fun being GIRL and being at a PARTY!!

By about 1:30am, it was getting late and time to leave. Saying goodbye's and giving real hugs was such a cool feeling. I left at the same time as Shandi, her SO, Janine and her GG friend and really enjoyed the walk to my vehicle in the cooler night time air:-) I've done those walks many times before, and this time it was very special to have friends to walk with:-) I parted with the others at my vehicle and drove off into the night, looking forward to the next time!

Party Photos

Following the party, Shandi was kind enough to send me some pictures and let me post them here. *Thanks Shandi*
