"Visiting KeyCon 20" May 17, 2003
I visited KeyCon 19 last year and had such a blast that I just had to go back again this year!
KeyCon
is a science fiction convention held in Winnipeg every year, with this
year's KeyCon being held at the Raddisson Hotel. Basicaly, they take
over three floors for their displays, art shows, gaming, demonstrations
and all around fun stuff, and on the fifteenth floor, they redecorate rooms
in various Con Suites, in various science fiction themes. It was certainly
going to be a great time.
Earlier in the day, I visited the hotel to purchase my day-pass, and took a quick tour of the displays and Con Suites, then took a break before "getting pretty".By 9:00 PM, I was ready, wearing my tight leather mini skirt, heels and a green blouse, and feeling so good about the evening to come. while waiting for my nails to dry, Shandi called to say that she and her wife "Charm" would be coming to the KeyCon social for the evening as well!
I got there about 9:45 PM, parked in the parkade, took the elevator to the hotel lobby, then walked past the front dest to the main elevatores, with my heels clicking loudly, and echoing through the room!! (GOD I love that sound*S*) And you know, there is something realy special about being out in a public place, and seeing your reflection in a large wall mirror!
I got off the elevator on the 11th, then took the big staircase to the 12th floor, where the social was being held. Once in the room, I spotted my ex and a friend of hers. It was so cool being all dressed up, and I do have to say, much prettier than my ex, who was wearing old jeans and a T-shirt! She introcuded me to her friend as our daughter's "Aunt Sabrina". What was so cool, was that I know my ex's friend as "him"! She didn't seem to bat an eye with the introduction.
My daugher came up and said hello, then ran off to hang out with "her date", the guy she has been "stocking" for quite a while now. I knew her time with him was important, so I just hung around, chatted with others, and before you know it, there I was on the dance floor having a great time!! Even some of the people I was introduce to were running around introducing me as my daugher's "Aunt Sabrina". That was so cool.
Then Shandi and Charm arrived, and WOW! Shandi looked great! Well, so did Charm*S* So there we were, probably the prettiest girls there, and having a great time just being ourselves, visiting with friends, making new ones, and dancing the night away!

The evening was a lot of fun. We toured the Con Suites, visited with other convention goers, and checked out the art display and vendors room. What was so nice, was hanging around with everyone, chatting about this and that, and just having fun together!
Since my daughter's friend didn't dance, I kinda felt bad for her that she didn't spend much time dancing. As the night ended and the "slow" music was playing, I literally grabbed his hand and dragged him out onto the dance floor for a "slow dance". I guess that did it for him, since only then did he decide it was time to dance with my daughter<LOL> ("Aunt Sabrina" to the rescue!)
