Out & About - Going to see "Connie And Carla" with Chantal..

When I heard that Nia Vardolas, who stared in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was doing a "Victor Victoria" style movie about the drag scene, I couldn't wait for it to arrive on the "Big Screen"! Since Nia Vardolas is from Winnipeg and there is reference to our city in the movie, I just had to go see it on opening night!

Chantal felt the same way and we made plans to go to the late show the day the show opened on Friday, April 16, 2004! Work had me stressed out during the day, wondering if I'd be done in time to "get pretty". As luck would have it, I was done by 6:30 and anxiously called Chantal to say I was going to make it!

Of course I just had to wear a mini skirt and the outfit I chose was my black leather mini, a red sleeveless T-shirt, beige hose and boots. And of course I just had to wear my new shinny jacket!

After I was ready I called Chantal and arranged to pick her up at her place. She was wearing a black pleather mini skirt, T-shirt and boots and looked terrific as always:-)

After a quick stop to use the bank machine we got to the theatre by 9:20 PM, got our tickets as we stood wondering if we should be in the lineup to get into the theatre one of the staff members called to us and opened another gate to let us in. Kinda made us feel like celebrities! After getting our popcorn and drinks we made our way into the theatre. Being opening night there were a lot of people there and we made our way up the stairs to our seats, proudly swaying our hips as only a sexy girl should:-)

As it usually works out, the popcorn was half gone by the time the movie started! Although I hadn't been looking for it, I didn't notice us getting any funny looks from anyone as we sat there with our skirts riding up our thighs! Then the show started! I won't give away the whole story-line as I don't want to spoil it for you. Anyway, there was a scene where Connie and Carla walk into a gay night club and in the scene there are obviously going to be "drag queens". It was kinda cool listening to comments from those behind us about the "guys in dresses" on the screen, and wondered if they figured out there were"guys in skirts" sitting right in front of them!

We certainly enjoyed Nia's performance and have to say, she makes a real sexy drag queen! The reference to "Winnipeg" was a big hit with the audience and the movie was full of laughs! Check out the Connie and Carla web site at http://www.connieandcarla.com.

It still amazes me, just how comfortable I feel sitting in those theatres in mini skirts and heels, just being accepted as a girl by everyone. And I always remember and thank "Foot Lover" for helping me get out into the real world when he visited Winnipeg in April 2001!

After the movie we stopped outside the theatre for a few pics, those little treasures of our adventures out and about in the real world as girls! The pic at the left is Chantal.

Thanks for reading my story,
